Only Just Over 6 Weeks to Voting...

There's just over six weeks to go before all the votes have to be submitted and counted... I suspect its going to be quite an exciting count this year as all the books seem really popular and I haven't spoken to two people yet who agree on the winner so I think it's going to be a close run thing..!!

I always wonder when I write this blog if a) anyone actually reads it and b) whether the authors read it to see what we're saying about them. I'd love to know!! I know if I was one of the authors I'd have to have a look to see what people were saying about my book!! What do you all think of the individual titles (just in case the authors are reading the blog - it would be nice for them to read your comments about their books)??!! You've had plenty of time to get stuck into the reading so am sure people have something to say about them and we're looking for quotes to put in our booklet so if you do have something to say and we like it - you might find your words are put into print for the Bolton Children's Book Award 2008 Booklet which will be given out at the Awards Ceremony!!

By the way - we are have had a few techincal difficulties recently which is why there was a MASSIVE delay before some comments appeared. Think we've got it sorted now so comments should appear much more quickly, so please do send some more!!

Votes are coming in all ready here and they are all different. It's really good to see titles that are first choice for some people aren't even making it as the third choice on other voting slips. It shows that there's something for all tastes on the list. We've had some very heated discussions and I'm dying to see which one will be the overall winner.

It's really exciting this year - I can't wait either. In previous years, I've been able to make a pretty accurate guess but I am really not sure this year at all... I have my favourite and I'm keeping my fingers crossed for it but as a member of the BBA panel am not sure if I'm allowed to say what my favourite title is here!!!

Well, I for one do read this blog (even though I really ought to be working on my new book). I meet readers very seldom, so the Award will be a wonderful opportunity to do that, I hope. I think the total number of young readers I've met to date (readers less than half my age, in other words) is three!

Thank you Anne! Yes, there is a follow-up, which for tedious reasons I've had to publish independently for now. But the upshot of this is that I hope to have a few copies of it onsale at the Award. I'll reserve you one! :-)

I thought Cat Kin was a great book, and I've also read Cat's Paw, but I won't give away the story. Another book I thought was really funny is The Geek, the Greek and the Pimpernel. It's going to be great to meet the authors and find out who's won.

I have finished them all and i think that they all are fantastic. My favourite book is 'The black book of secrets' because it is really exciting and when i was half way through it i couldn't wait to find out the rest, furthermore I loved all the secrets from this book. My worst book was 'Finding Violet park' because it wasn't as exciting as the others and it didnt have any action or fast pace. The most gripping book was 'Skulduggery pleasant' because it was fiction and it had very fast pace. So in conclusion I have loved all those books and i cant wait to see which one of them will win!

I enjoyed reading "Deeper than Blue", "Skulduggery Pleasant", "Cat Kin" and "The Black book of Secrets". This year's shortlist was very good and I have found it hard to decide which one is the best.
